Project Title:

Category:

Science and Engineering

Inventors:

Institution/Company:

Southern University College

Invention Description/ Abstract:

The Portable Parking Space Reservation System with IoT Control is a compact solar-powered device designed to prevent unauthorised use of reserved parking spaces. It comes with a guardrail that automatically raises when no vehicles are parked and lowers again when the owner gives a command via a smartphone app. If an unauthorised vehicle tries to park, a loud alarm is triggered to deter the driver. Designed for outdoor use, the system uses infrared sensors to detect vehicles to secure reserved spaces for disabled people and others. The system provides a convenient and sustainable solution for protecting individuals or designated parking spaces.

Invention Technical Description

The Portable Parking Space Reservation System with IoT Control is a solar powered device designed to secure reserved parking spaces using devices with IoT capabilities. The system uses an ESP8266 microcontroller to control the guardrail, which is raised and lowered by two DC motors. The system is operated via a smartphone app and uses a Bluetooth module (HC-05) for wireless communication. An infrared sensor detects unauthorised vehicles and triggers a loud buzzer as an alarm. The infrared sensor detects unauthorised vehicles and triggers a loud buzzer as an alarm. The unit is powered by a polycrystalline solar panel and managed by an MPPT charge controller and includes a lithium-ion battery for continuous operation. The entire system is mounted using magnets for easy portability, installation and self-sustainability.
