Invention Description/ Abstract:
This project was carried out by a Southern University College student who was studying bachelor’s in software engineering.
The application that is going to be designed and developed throughout this Final Year Project would be a music streaming application that allows users to play music while there's a variety of audio file formats for the users to choose from, integrated with Google Assistant for voice-over control, and a feature that allows users to sing or hum out the song to perform a song search in order to improve the music streaming application’s usage efficiency.
The literature review has been done based on the thesis and the current available music streaming application to find out if the improvement areas are worth implementing. The overall software design of the project is done using UML (Unified Modeling Language) diagrams such as use case diagrams, sequence diagrams, activity diagrams, and class diagrams by referring to the objectives and requirements. The wireframe and prototype of the project were done before the application development. It may better visualise what the application would look like, and it would be the blueprint of the project.
Invention Technical Description
The purpose of this project is to create a music streaming application system that allows users to listen to cloud-stored music, choose different audio format types based on their usage or preferences, and search for a song stored in the database by using singing voice. So even without the song’s title or artist, a human melody sample is compared to a segment of the song to see if there is a match.
Problem Statements:
1. Limited Audio Format Selection, which most of the music streaming application preset for the users, so users would not be able to choose different audio file format to listen to.
2. Operation Difficulty While Multitasking, as most users nowadays will listen to music while multitasking such as studying, working, or especially driving, it will be hard for them to always free up their hand to have control over the application.
3. Limited Search Method, most the music applications only allow user to search using text, such as song’s name, artist name or album.
Objectives:
1. To identify the features and development of the existing music streaming application.
2. To design and develop a music application that can provide audio file selection, and integrated voice assistant, and sing-to-search features.
3. To verify that the designed and developed application may improve the overall efficiency of user’s usage of music application.
