In today society, courier service was widely used since it can make people be more convenient to get their parcel because they will not be required to spending time to go out for searching their desired good. But there’s also a risk to losing parcel or damaged accidently or if the parcel cannot be received on time. This is a serious issue which should be solved since this will bring losses to the person. To overcome this issue, an automated parcel transmitting system with locker storage will be proposed which is included two parts of conveyor which is one will send the parcel into the locker and another one will send the parcel out to target person. The lockers storage will be built in a specified space instead be placed at outside and the parcel can be only gotten by the conveyor sending parcel out. With this system, the risk of losing or damaged parcel can be greatly decreased since they will not be seen by outsider and stored safely until the targeted person take it. The courier service will become more convenient and secured.
Invention Technical Description
Automated parcel locker system is operated with ESP32-WROOM-32 microcontroller as Central Processing Unit (CPU) which is used to manage incoming parcel which is storing in and sending out with fully automated operation. This system consists not only a group of lockers with different size, also provide linear module and short conveyor belt to transmit incoming parcel between entrance and lockers. This system included transmission system and security system.
When the courier delivered parcel to the collection point with this system, the parcel will be placed at entrance of conveyor belt. To send the parcel into the system, the weight of parcel should not be exceeded 5kg then the system will scan the size of parcel and check the availability of suitable locker. If locker available then the system will ask for tracking number with barcode scanning and phone number of receivers. Only provide this information then the parcel will be transmitted into targeted locker with sending out SMS notification to receiver’s phone number. Besides that, all the information for this parcel will be saved in database until the receiver take it out.
To take out parcel, the tracking number received from SMS notification is required. After entered correct tracking number, the target parcel will be sent out from locker with pushing function and transmission with linear module and conveyor belt. After sent out parcel, all the information for this parcel will be deleted from database. There will be exist a 4x4 matrix keypad for information input and LCD screen for showing information. LED will be installed for indication of system status such as remind user that system is working.
To improve the security of this system, a security system also designed with using buzzer as alarm function and can be accessed with only passcode. To enter the storage room, correct passcode is required. Only entered correct passcode then the door will open for 10 seconds. After 10 seconds the buzzer will be activated for reminder if the door still opening. If provided incorrect passcode, the system will notify and ask for re-enter. The buzzer will be activated if incorrect passcode occurs for three times and this can be only solved by fix passcode which is different. Passcode can be entered with 4x4 matrix keypad and all the information and entered passcode will be shown in LCD screen. This will ensure that only specific technician can enter this storage room if necessary and there will be few emergency
